About DSAW

The Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin (DSAW) is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities, as well as their families.

DSAW provides programs and services across the lifespan, including Parents’ First Call for new and expectant parents, children’s services, adult services, vocational services, and aging services, as well as educational opportunities, workshops, and community events throughout Wisconsin.

Transforming Community-Based Programming

DSAW is evolving beyond traditional day programming to build centers of innovation and excellence in neurodiversity. Our next-generation services emphasize lifelong learning, community exploration, technology, wellness, and self-determination—helping people with developmental disabilities lead independent, meaningful, and self-directed lives.

DSAW’s programming philosophy is grounded in high expectations, self-determination, and the belief that individuals with disabilities should have access to the same opportunities for learning, growth, and community participation as anyone else.

This role will help lead the transition from traditional center-based models to dynamic, community-connected learning environments that reflect the strengths, interests, and aspirations of neurodiverse individuals.

Position Summary

The Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Regional Manager provides fiscal and operational oversight of community-based day habilitation services in South Central Wisconsin. This is a hands-on leadership role that will be actively involved in service delivery at DSAW’s Sun Prairie program site.

The HCBS Regional Manager directly supervises Community Day Program Specialists and Assistants supporting programming at the Sun Prairie site, as well as Community Support Mentors providing 1:1 services in the community.

We are seeking a creative leader who is passionate about reimagining what adult programming can be. This role will help design and deliver experiences that promote lifelong learning, technology exploration, community engagement, health and wellness, social connection, financial and digital literacy, and other skills that support independent, self-directed, and fulfilling lives.

At DSAW, programming is built around the interests, goals, and strengths of the individuals we support, with an emphasis on community integration, skill development, and meaningful relationships.

What Success Looks Like in the First Year

In the first year, the Regional Manager will help advance DSAW’s vision for innovative community-based programming by:

• Supporting the transition from traditional center-based programming to dynamic community-connected learning environments

• Expanding opportunities for participants to build independence through life skills, technology, and real-world community experiences

• Strengthening staff capacity through training, coaching, and collaborative program design

• Building relationships with local schools, community organizations, and funding partners

• Identifying opportunities for program growth and new partnerships across South Central Wisconsin

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Special Education, Human Services, Social Work, Education, or similar preferred)

• Experience developing curriculum or community-based programming

• 5+ years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities

• 5+ years of supervisory or program management experience

• Familiarity with Wisconsin long-term care systems, including IRIS, Family Care, and CLTS

• Working knowledge of Wisconsin DHS rules and regulatory compliance

• Solid understanding of supporting individuals with behavioral challenges
