About The Role
Current is seeking a hands-on, highly capable Regional Finance Manager to serve as the embedded financial partner to regional leadership. This is not a back-office reporting role, it is a regional, hands-on finance leadership role. You will function as a trusted advisor who understands the region’s operating environment at every level, from firm-wide business performance down to office-level detail, and who can distill that complexity into insight leadership can act on.
This role reports directly to the Director, Corporate FP&A at Current, while carrying direct, hands-on ownership and accountability for financial planning, reporting, analysis and related support for the Northeast region.
The right candidate is proactive and genuinely hands-on: comfortable owning a wide range of tasks that go well beyond producing analytics, including digging into root causes, using data to build a clear narrative around performance, and staying engaged through follow-through on the actions that result. Success in this role requires executive presence, sharp problem-solving instincts, and the ability to communicate complex financial and operational issues in a way that is clear, cohesive, and immediately useful to leadership supporting not just the recommendation, but the execution that follows it.
The ideal candidate brings deep FP&A experience in multi-entity or PE-backed environments, thrives in ambiguity, and can move fluidly between strategic and executional work equally comfortable framing a capital allocation decision for regional leadership and pulling the underlying office-level data apart to explain why a number moved.
This role is ideally suited for a candidate based in the NY Metro region. Proximity to the region’s firms gives this person the ability to be genuinely hands-on visiting offices regularly, building in-person relationships with firm leaders, and staying close to the office-level detail that drives the analysis. Just as important, this is a team player who integrates naturally with the regional leadership team: someone who earns trust through consistent presence and collaboration, not just the quality of the analysis delivered from a distance.
Candidates must be located in the NY Metro area.
Key Responsibilities
Business Performance Reporting for the Region (35%)
Build deep fluency in the region’s operating environment across every level, from consolidated business performance to individual office economics, so recommendations are grounded in operating reality, not just the numbers
Own the region’s financial performance narrative delivering monthly and quarterly reporting packages that surface the “so what,” not just the variance
Define, track, and continuously refine the KPI framework across revenue, margins, utilization, realization, and client profitability
Understand variances to plan and prior year results. Build early warning systems and leading indicators that give leadership a forward-looking view before issues become trends
Go beyond variance commentary and standard reporting to investigate the underlying drivers behind performance digging into the data to understand root cause, not just outcome
Translate complex, sometimes messy financial and operational data into a clear, insightful narrative that leadership can act on quickly
Drive the annual budget, multi-year long-range plan, and rolling quarterly forecasts for the region, with full ownership from build to presentation.
Regional Financial Leadership & Support (35%)
Serve as the primary, embedded financial partner to regional leadership providing hands-on, proactive support across growth initiatives, operational performance, and day-to-day decision-making
Own follow-through on recommendations: track the actions that come out of an analysis and ensure they’re driven to completion, not just handed off
Act as a trusted sounding board to regional leadership, bringing an independent, well-reasoned point of view to strategic and operational questions
Perform ad hoc analysis as directed by the Regional leadership team to support both strategic and operational decisions to drive business performance
Develop and stress-test scenario models to evaluate strategic alternatives, growth investments, M&A targets, and market expansion opportunities
Shape investment decisions, resource allocation, and operational strategy through rigorous analysis and confident, well-supported recommendations
Business Partnering (15%)
Act as a trusted, embedded partner to firm and regional leaders, translating operational realities into financial projections and bridging strategy and execution
Support financial diligence, integration modeling, special projects, ad hoc analysis and synergy tracking for regional acquisitions, onboarding activity, and broader growth strategies
Collaborate cross-functionally and with other regional teams to ensure financial planning stays grounded in operational reality
Systems, Automation & Process Excellence (15%)
Continuously improve regional FP&A infrastructure forecasting cadence, reporting templates, data pipelines, and BI dashboards to enable faster, more scalable insight
Champion self-service analytics by building automation and performance dashboards that give firm and regional leaders real-time visibility into financial performance
Partner with Corporate FP&A and Finance Systems teams to drive consistency in planning tools, data definitions, and reporting standards across the platform
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required; MBA or CPA strongly preferred
6+ years of progressive FP&A or corporate finance experience, including meaningful time operating in a hands-on, business-partnering capacity rather than a purely analytical one
Background in professional services, PE-backed platforms, or multi-entity / multi-location businesses required
Technical Skills
Expert-level financial modeling; able to build dynamic, audit-ready models from scratch
Hands-on experience with ERP and planning systems (NetSuite, Workday Adaptive, SAP, Anaplan, or equivalent) and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau or Databricks)
Strong command of GAAP, financial statement drivers, and the operational metrics that matter in services businesses
People Skills
Executive presence and the communication skill to translate complex financial and operational issues into a clear, cohesive story equally effective in a leadership meeting and a one-on-one working session
A problem-solver by instinct: comfortable digging into ambiguous or messy situations to find the root cause rather than stopping at the surface-level number
Proven ability to influence without authority and build credibility with senior stakeholders through the quality of your insight and your follow-through, not positional authority
Highly organized, with the discipline to manage a wide range of competing priorities and deliver consistently in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
A genuine team player who integrates naturally with the regional leadership team — collaborative, low-ego, and as invested in the team’s success as in individual output
Travel & Work Environment
This role is member firm-facing and requires frequent travel. A NY Metro home base is ideal, keeping this person close to the firms in the region for regular, in-person visits rather than relying on remote support alone. Candidates should expect to travel approximately 30–40% of the time, including regular visits to member firms across the region to support business partnering, onboarding, and M&A integration activity. Candidates must be comfortable with a travel schedule that varies by quarter based on business needs.
Core collaboration hours follow Eastern Time (ET) to support firm leadership and cross-functional coordination with the broader Current finance team.
