Position Summary:
- This position is
based at the Singapore Regional Headquarters and serves as the regional tax
focal point supporting subsidiaries across Asia. The successful candidate will
work closely with Japan Headquarters, regional finance teams, and external tax
advisers to strengthen regional tax governance, provide tax advisory support,
and manage cross-border tax matters. In addition, the role supports financial
governance, performance monitoring, and management reporting across APAC
subsidiaries, acting as a key regional finance partner with a strong focus on
tax advisory and governance.
- The role provides
regional oversight and support across subsidiaries in Singapore, Thailand, the
Philippines, Indonesia, India, Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
Key
Responsibilities
Tax
Advisory:
- Provide regional tax advisory support to APAC
subsidiaries on cross-border transactions, tax compliance, and regional
business initiatives.
- Coordinate regional tax governance initiatives and
monitor tax-related risks.
- Review tax implications of intercompany transactions
and regional business activities.
- Liaise with Japan Headquarters regarding regional tax
matters and reporting.
- Coordinate with external tax advisers across Asia
where necessary.
- Support regional transfer pricing and tax
documentation initiatives.
- Share tax updates and best practices across regional
finance teams.
Financial Reporting
Review:
- Review monthly, quarterly, and annual
financial reports and management accounts through DIVA for all APAC
subsidiaries.
- Ensure consistency, accuracy, and
alignment of financial data with reporting standards and internal guidelines.
- Review significant variances, unusual
transactions, and reporting issues, and provide feedback to enhance the
accuracy, completeness, and consistency of financial reporting.
Performance
Analysis & KPI Monitoring:
- Analyse financial performance against
budget, forecast, and prior period results.
- Support the development and
monitoring of key financial and operational KPIs.
- Identify key variances, trends, and
underlying drivers of business performance.
Budgeting
& Forecast Review Support:
- Support the annual budgeting and
forecasting process through financial analysis and review of key assumptions.
- Perform variance analysis between
actual results, budgets, and forecasts.
- Provide scenario analysis and
financial impact assessments to support planning discussions.
Governance &
Internal Control Monitoring:
- Monitor adherence to financial
policies, procedures, and internal control requirements.
- Identify control gaps, reporting
inconsistencies, or compliance risks and escalate significant matters.
- Support the monitoring and follow-up
of audit findings and corrective actions by responsible functions.
Management Insights
& Advisory Support:
- Provide financial insights and
commentary to support management’s understanding of business performance.
- Highlight key financial risks, cost
drivers, and operational issues identified through financial analysis.
- Contribute financial perspective in
cross-functional discussions when required.
Others:
- Undertake other finance and tax-related
responsibilities as assigned by the Division Head or required to support APAC
subsidiaries.
Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, taxation, business, or a related discipline.
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in one or more of
the following:
- Corporate Tax within a multinational company
environment and/or
- Tax Advisory/Consulting in a professional services firm
- Experience in handling cross-border taxation and
regional tax matters would be highly advantageous
- Business-level proficiency in Japanese is required to
communicate and prepare reports for Japan Headquarters and other
Japanese-speaking stakeholders.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills
to collaborate effectively with overseas subsidiaries.
