Regional Product Support Engineer (Industrial Electronics & Control Systems)
Company Overview
Our client is a globally celebrated pioneer and market leader in specialized industrial IoT (IIoT) ecosystems, automated environmental control platforms, and high-reliability smart industrial/agricultural technology systems. Operating in over 100 countries, they design, integrate, and deploy advanced embedded control networks, digital farm-management systems, and ruggedized sensory hardware that optimize large-scale processing, climate control, and production logistics across global markets. To strengthen their regional technical escalation network and drive alternative component validation across the Asia-Pacific region, they are seeking an experienced Senior Regional Product Support Engineer (Electronics).
Mission
The Senior Regional Product Support Engineer (Electronics) serves as the primary regional technical authority and technical SME for electronic control systems, computer/controller platforms, sensory networks, and embedded software architectures. Operating as the strategic technical link between field commissioning teams, regional subsidiaries, external component suppliers, and global R&D centers, this role leads Tier-3 technical support escalations, alternative electronic component sourcing, component cost-reduction initiatives, and rigorous field validation trials under demanding operational environments.
Key Responsibilities & Activities
1. Regional Technical & Product Support Escalation
Technical Authority: Act as the regional subject matter expert (SME) for core electronic component categories, including controllers, embedded computer platforms, sensory arrays, measurement modules, and power/energy management units.
Complex Diagnostics: Lead advanced troubleshooting and technical diagnoses for complex hardware, software, firmware, signal processing, data communication, and system integration bottlenecks escalated by regional field teams.
Lifecycle Oversight: Support field commissioning, firmware upgrades, system calibrations, and long-term lifecycle management for installed electronic product assets across APAC sites.
Knowledge Transfer: Translate recurring field defects and operational anomalies into structured engineering improvement proposals and deliver advanced technical training to regional engineers and technical leads.
2. Software, Controller & System Integration Mastery
Field Commissioning Support: Provide specialist technical advisory to field teams during the application, configuration, and verification of complex controller architectures, software licenses, sensory hardware, and alarm networks.
System Interoperability: Ensure seamless integration of electronic control systems with automated climate networks, environmental sensors, feeding/weighing systems, and centralized management software.
Firmware Validation: Direct software/firmware release testing, regression evaluations, license validation, and on-site functional validations prior to regional rollouts.
3. Cost Reduction & Alternative Component Sourcing
Value Engineering: Lead and support technical cost-down (VAVE) initiatives for electronic control units, sensors, cabling assemblies, signal interfaces, and peripheral components.
Alternative Sourcing: Search, evaluate, and technically qualify alternative electronics solutions and component suppliers outside the existing product ecosystem to ensure supply chain resilience.
Benchmarking & Compliance: Compare candidate electronics based on functionality, structural reliability, system compatibility, cybersecurity standards, regulatory compliance, and total cost of ownership (TCO).
4. Testing, Field Trials & Environmental Validation
Pilot Installation Management: Plan and coordinate pilot installations and trial runs for alternative electronic components in collaboration with regional engineering teams, plant sites, and component suppliers.
Harsh Environment Testing: Verify electronic component resilience under harsh operational conditions—including extreme temperature shifts, high humidity, airborne dust, heavy mechanical vibration, and electrical noise/interference.
Controlled Rollout: Analyze trial datasets, compile objective validation reports, and sign off on controlled product releases across APAC markets.
5. Cross-Functional & Global R&D Collaboration
Global Alignment: Collaborate closely with the Global Electronics Team, R&D, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, and Product Management to align regional market needs with global technology roadmaps.
Supplier Governance: Represent regional technical requirements in vendor design reviews, failure mode analyses (FMEA), and joint root-cause investigation sessions.
Requirements
Education & Technical Credentials
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a closely related technical discipline.
Professional Experience: Minimum 5+ years of active, hands-on experience in industrial electronics, embedded controls, automation systems, building automation, or specialized industrial/agricultural control machinery.
Technical Domain: Strong practical track record in supporting PLCs, embedded microcontrollers, sensory arrays, industrial communication interfaces, and software-based control architectures.
Technical Competencies
Electronics Mastery: Deep working knowledge of electronic control circuits, sensors, actuators, signal processing, wiring schematics, power supply setups, and industrial communication protocols.
Diagnostic Capability: Outstanding analytical capacity to distinguish between hardware defects, firmware/software bugs, configuration errors, installation flaws, and environmental failure factors.
Validation & RCA: Practical proficiency in structured testing, root-cause analysis (RCA), failure mode evaluation, and risk-based validation methodologies.
Sourcing Literacy: Practical experience with supplier technical evaluations, component qualification procedures, and cost-reduction projects is highly advantageous.
Operational & Personal Attributes
Regional Agility: Ability to operate effectively within an international, cross-functional support framework, interfacing with global R&D centers and local field teams.
Mobility: Willingness to travel periodically across the APAC region for flagship site commissions, complex technical escalations, and vendor audits.
