Regional Safety Manager
Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Regional Safety Manager. The primary function of the Regional Safety Manager is to develop, implement, coordinate, and ensure compliance with the company’s programs and policies covering employee health, safety, property security and regulatory compliance. The Regional Safety Manager provides support to the Corporate Safety Manager, Director of Safety & Risk Management, Executive Management, and all assigned branches, divisions, and subsidiaries.
- The Regional Safety Manager works with the Corporate Safety Manager to provide leadership and direction on all Safety matters to assigned operations, branches, and departments, including measuring, and evaluating the effectiveness of the safety program and making and recommending modifications as needed to achieve established safety goals and objectives.
- Works closely with appropriate Regional Vice Presidents and operational departments to direct the application and administration of established corporate safety programs throughout the company. Serve as consultant to assigned regions and branches to establish plans to improve overall health and safety of each region/branch.
- Attend and participate in professional and committee meetings related to health and safety issues. Serve as a principal source of information on health and safety issues. Assist with the development and administration of programs, reports, and employee training workshops.
- Plan, organize, schedule and conduct inspections of branches, work areas and equipment. Monitor site conditions, practices, and procedures for compliance with health, safety, environmental, and transportation requirements and MHC standards. Select and implement corrective action and follows-up to ensure proper action has been taken.
- Research and become well-versed on emerging hazards/issues, communicate hazard control and loss information direction to management, supervision and employees through specialized training and education programs.
- Protect the interest of the company and its employees as required by applicable regulatory agencies such as OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc. with respect to applicable standards (hazard communications, record keeping, OSHA 300 logs, substance abuse/use testing, driver qualification, SDS, etc.).
- Coordinate the activities and monitor progress of the various branch Safety Committees to ensure focus on defined company/branch safety goals and objectives. Provide training to safety committees and meet with them on a regular basis to empower the committees and ensure the effectiveness of these committees in establishing a safe working environment.
- Review after action reports conducted by branch personnel for identification of incident causes and measures taken to prevent recurrence.
- Manage and facilitate the MHC Vehicle Safety Programs (driving standards, camera technology, as well as other designated technologies).
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Corporate Safety Manager.
