Regional Sales Manager (US-West)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Regional Sales Manager (US-West) based in United States.

This leadership role is responsible for driving commercial performance across the Western United States while developing and empowering a high-performing regional sales team. You will lead Regional Account Managers, translate broader business strategies into actionable territory plans, and identify opportunities for sustainable revenue growth. The role combines strategic planning with significant field engagement, including customer relationship building, coaching, and market development. You will work closely with senior sales, marketing, and cross-functional teams to strengthen market positioning and execute commercial priorities. A strong understanding of the eye care, life sciences, pharmaceutical, or medical device environment will be valuable. Accountabilities:

  • Directly manage and develop a regional team of Regional Account Managers, providing clear objectives, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and ongoing performance support.
  • Translate business strategy into regional sales plans, ensuring team members understand how their individual responsibilities contribute to broader commercial objectives.
  • Establish a consistent management cadence through team meetings, one-to-one discussions, field visits, ride-alongs, and quarterly business reviews.
  • Monitor regional performance and ensure robust territory and account plans are in place to protect existing revenue and capitalize on growth opportunities.
  • Lead the execution of agreed sales cycles, including priority products, promotional initiatives, bonus products, new product launches, and other commercial priorities.
  • Keep senior sales leadership informed of market conditions, competitive developments, business performance, and recommended actions through regular reporting and analysis.
  • Provide additional strategic focus to major accounts and support pricing, product planning, product introductions, promotional activities, advertising initiatives, and industry conferences.
  • Monitor CRM adoption and ensure sales milestones, customer information, and activity records are maintained accurately and consistently.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activity, sales statistics, territory data, and customer intelligence to identify opportunities and inform regional strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing teams to address field marketing requirements, strengthen product knowledge, and support commercial strategy.
  • Recruit, onboard, develop, and retain sales talent while supporting performance reviews, development plans, recognition, and appropriate corrective actions when required.
  • Identify high-potential employees and facilitate development through stretch assignments, projects, training, mentoring, and cross-functional opportunities.
  • Spend approximately 60–75% of working time in the field, with a strong emphasis on coaching the team and developing relationships with key customers.
  • Foster an inclusive and connected culture across a geographically distributed workforce, ensuring employees feel supported, engaged, and valued.
  • Requirements:

    • University degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field; a master's degree or professional certification is preferred.
    • At least 3 years of sales management experience, with 5+ years of experience in eye care considered desirable.
    • Proven experience leading, coaching, motivating, and developing a regional sales team to achieve commercial targets.
    • Strong background in life sciences, commercial business, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, or a closely related industry.
    • Solid understanding of the eye care market, including customers, products, services, competitors, industry dynamics, and market developments.
    • Demonstrated operational sales and key account management experience, with practical knowledge of customer and channel management.
    • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to interpret market intelligence, assess business dynamics, and translate insights into effective plans and targets.
    • Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset, including the ability to identify, develop, and pursue new business opportunities with initiative and persistence.
    • Proven ability to execute commercial priorities effectively while working in an empowering, professional, and results-oriented environment.
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, listening, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
    • Collaborative leadership style with experience operating successfully in a startup-like, evolving, or high-growth environment.
    • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on field execution and customer engagement.
    • Current full driving license required.
    • Willingness to undertake occasional international travel.
    • Candidates should ideally be based on the US West Coast with convenient access to a major airport to support regional travel.
