The Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Director of National Technical Services, the Regional Technical Services Manager plays a critical role in elevating the performance, safety, and reliability of BGO’s property portfolio. The primary function of the Technical Services lead is to provide technical expertise and advanced compliance in building operations integrity, environmental health & safety, regulatory compliance, risk management, and operational excellence, by promoting proactive maintenance, innovative technologies and data-driven performance management. Partnering closely with Asset Management, Property Management, Sustainability, and Construction Services, to protect and enhance asset value, ensuring regulatory compliance, and manage technical and environmental risk across the portfolio. This role ensures that all BGO properties operate consistently at or above market standards as defined by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) and Rental Housing Canada (RHC), and in accordance with national regulatory requirements.

This is an onsite position located in Calgary, AB.

What You Will Do

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide regional technical leadership across building operations, compliance, risk, and asset performance.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive proactive, predictive, and technology-enabled maintenance strategies.
  • Compliance & Risk: Ensure regulatory, environmental, health & safety, and fire/life safety compliance.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Lead emergency response, fire safety, and business continuity programs.
  • Digital Transformation: Leverage Visitt and smart-building technologies to improve maintenance and reliability.
  • Workforce Development: Build a certified, future-ready technical workforce through training and skills development.
  • Asset & CAPEX Management: Oversee building systems, lifecycle planning, capital projects, and value optimization.
  • Communication & Engagement: Standardize best practices and drive regional alignment through effective stakeholder communication.

Who You Are

Key Qualifications

    • Education: Degree in Engineering, Building Science, Facilities Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
    • Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in technical services, engineering, or building operations within commercial real estate.
    • Licences / Certifications Professional designation (P.Eng, PMP, CFM, or similar) considered an asset
    • Strong knowledge of multi-residential, office, retail, and industrial building systems.
    • Demonstrated experience in capital planning, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
      • Experience with Microsoft Suite, Yardi, AI, Property Technology and Building systems

    • Police Clearance – A criminal verification check is required for employment.
