Registered Care Home Manager

Castleford Lodge, Castleford, West Yorkshire

Salary: Up to £70,000 per year + performance-related bonus
Full-time | Permanent | Nurse Qualified

60-bed nursing and residential care home
Supported by a supernumerary Clinical Deputy Manager
Structured 12-week induction supported by your Regional Operations Manager

We’re not looking for someone to simply manage Castleford Lodge. We’re looking for someone to lead it.

We’re looking for an experienced Registered Care Home Manager with a nursing background to lead Castleford Lodge, our 60-bed nursing and residential care home in Castleford.

This is an opportunity for a strong, experienced leader who wants to build a great team, strengthen standards and shape the future of the home.

We’re not going to tell you that every day will be easy. Senior leadership in care rarely is.

But if you’re the kind of Home Manager who enjoys developing people, improving standards, solving problems and seeing the difference your leadership makes, we’d really like to talk to you.

And you won’t be doing it alone.

You’ll work alongside the home’s supernumerary Clinical Deputy Manager, providing dedicated clinical leadership within the home. You’ll also have the backing of your Regional Operations Manager and specialist support across Quality, People, Recruitment and Learning & Development.

You’ll have the autonomy to lead and the support to succeed.

Your home. Your team. Your standards.

As Registered Manager, you’ll have overall responsibility for the quality, safety, culture and performance of Castleford Lodge.

For us, great leadership means being visible in your home, knowing your residents, knowing your team and understanding what’s happening beyond the numbers on a dashboard.

You’ll:

  • Build and develop a strong, stable and engaged team that people want to be part of.
  • Set clear standards and create a culture of support and accountability.
  • Keep residents and their experiences at the heart of decisions within the home.
  • Drive high standards across quality, safety, clinical practice and governance.
  • Lead continuous improvement and maintain strong CQC readiness.
  • Work alongside your Clinical Deputy Manager to ensure strong clinical leadership and oversight.
  • Develop your Deputy Manager, nurses and wider leadership team.
  • Be curious, ask questions, spot problems early and act.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, families, commissioners, healthcare professionals and the local community.
  • Take ownership of staffing, occupancy, budgets and the overall performance of the home.

The kind of leader we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who has the experience and credibility to lead a nursing home and the personality to bring people with them.

You’ll need:

  • Previous experience as a Registered Manager or Home Manager within a care home setting.
  • Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care, or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of CQC regulations, clinical governance and quality standards.
  • Experience of improving and sustaining quality within a care service.
  • Strong clinical judgement and understanding of risk management.
  • Experience of building, developing and retaining effective teams.
  • Commercial awareness, including staffing, occupancy and budget management.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.

But we’re looking for more than qualifications.

We want a leader people will follow.

Someone who can be compassionate without avoiding difficult conversations.

Someone who can support people while still holding them accountable.

Someone who understands that great care starts with a great team.

Someone who is visible, curious and prepared to ask questions.

Someone who notices when something isn’t right and acts on it.

Great Home Managers need strong teams around them

At Castleford Lodge, you’ll work alongside a supernumerary Clinical Deputy Manager, providing dedicated clinical leadership and support within the home.

That gives you the opportunity to focus on what a great Home Manager should be doing: leading the whole service, developing your people, driving quality and building a successful home.

You’ll also have direct support from your Regional Operations Manager and specialist colleagues across Quality, People, Recruitment and Learning & Development.

We’ll give you the autonomy to lead your home, make decisions and set high expectations.

We’ll challenge you, we’ll expect high standards and we’ll hold you accountable for delivering them.

But you won’t be expected to do it alone.

Your first 12 weeks

We won’t expect you to walk through the door on day one with all the answers.

You’ll have a structured 12-week induction plan, supported by your Regional Operations Manager, giving you the opportunity to really get to know Castleford Lodge, its residents, families and colleagues.

You’ll have time to understand the home, what’s working well and where your leadership can make the biggest difference.

Together with your Regional Operations Manager, you’ll establish clear priorities and focus on building the foundations for long-term success.

Throughout your induction, you’ll have the support of your Clinical Deputy Manager and our wider Quality, People, Recruitment and Learning & Development teams.

We want you to succeed for the long term, not just get through your first few weeks.

What you’ll get from us

  • Salary up to £70,000 per year, depending on experience.
  • Annual performance-related bonus.
  • A supernumerary Clinical Deputy Manager working alongside you.
  • A structured 12-week induction and support plan.
  • Company-supported pension scheme.
  • Fully funded DBS.
  • Career development and progression opportunities across Orchard Healthcare Group.
  • Ongoing professional and leadership development.
  • Hundreds of colleague discounts across shopping, holidays, dining, technology and more.
  • Employee recognition through our Making a Difference Awards and Long Service Awards.
  • Confidential emotional, practical and financial support through our 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme.
