Registered Nurse - Controlled Substance Coordinator
The Controlled Substance Coordinator(RN) applies clinical knowledge of accreditation processes to include all pre-survey through post survey activities, performance measures, and Medical Center policies and procedures. This program assesses, modifies and controls the Medical Center's performance improvement activities and ensures compliance with internal and external requirements and standards.
The Controlled Substance Coordinator is responsible for providing consultation for assessment, measurement, and process improvement with regards to controlled substance activities and organizational functions. Major duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following: Demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to impact the standard of care and safety of staff while caring for all patients throughout the continuum of care. Responsible for leading a facility wide program for all services within the organization that meets the requirements of National Directives. Continuously evaluates the program, collecting and submitting facility performance measures. Reviews assignments based on scope, objectives and overall policies and priorities affecting accreditation and performance measure responsibilities for the Medical Center. Manages the Controlled Substances Inspection Program and is responsible for ensuring the Medical Center is in compliance with VA regulations and mandates. Recommends appointment and release of the inspectors appointed to the Controlled Substances Inspection Program and coordinates and conducts their training and assignments. Serves as a representative on Medical Center and service committees. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. Demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others.
