Registered Nurse, Intellectual Disabilities and Autism Unit
Summary
Provide psychiatric nursing care to adults with intellectual disabilities and autism in a 6-bed inpatient unit, including treatment planning, medication administration, and patient/family support.
The Intellectual Disabilities and Autism Unit is a specialized inpatient unit for the psychiatric evaluation, stabilization, and treatment of adults with co-occurring developmental and psychiatric disorders. This is a 6-bed unit that offers a behavioral approach to care for these dually diagnosed adults.
Responsibilities:
- Perform a full range of professional psychiatric nursing services, including assessing, planning, administering, and evaluating patient care in accordance with team treatment plans.
- Administer medical treatment as prescribed by physician.
- Teach and provide psychosocial support to patients and their families.
- Provide day-to-day clinical direction to assigned Mental Health Workers or other paraprofessional staff.
- Document and report patient progress to treatment team.
Requirements:
- Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Maryland (or compact state) at time of appointment and continuously while in position.
- Experience in a psychiatric nursing setting preferred but not necessary.
- A passion for working with Adults on the Autism Spectrum.
- All new clinical staff will begin their extended clinical orientation/training immediately following your first day of employment.
