Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room Circulator

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room Circulator to join a surgical services team in Rutherfordton, North Carolina. This opportunity is designed for an accomplished perioperative nursing professional with direct Operating Room circulating experience who is confident supporting a diverse range of surgical procedures.

The Operating Room Circulator will coordinate nursing care throughout surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety, maintaining proper surgical protocols, and supporting effective communication between surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other members of the perioperative team.

This position requires hands-on Operating Room circulating experience across multiple surgical specialties, including orthopedic surgery, general surgery, robotic-assisted procedures using the da Vinci Surgical System, and select OB/GYN procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Current, active North Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) license or qualifying Compact RN License with North Carolina endorsement
• Minimum 2 years of direct Surgery and Operating Room Circulating RN experience
• Demonstrated experience performing the responsibilities of an Operating Room Circulator
• Must be comfortable circulating in the following surgical specialties:
  • Orthopedic Surgery
  • General Surgery
  • da Vinci Robotic-Assisted Surgery
  • Select Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) Procedures
• Strong understanding of perioperative nursing practices, surgical safety protocols, and sterile technique
• Ability to coordinate intraoperative patient care and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary surgical teams
• Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and commitment to patient safety

Important Experience Requirement: Candidates whose surgical nursing experience is limited to Pre-Operative Care, Post-Operative Care, Endoscopy/Gastrointestinal (GI), or Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) settings cannot be considered. Direct Operating Room circulating experience is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional experience circulating across multiple surgical specialties
• Extensive experience supporting orthopedic, general, robotic-assisted, and OB/GYN surgical procedures
• Familiarity with da Vinci robotic surgical workflows, equipment preparation, and intraoperative coordination
• Experience working in a hospital-based surgical services department
• Strong knowledge of surgical positioning, patient advocacy, infection prevention, and operating room documentation
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing procedural needs and collaborate effectively with surgeons and anesthesia professionals
• Previous experience supporting complex or high-acuity surgical cases

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an experienced Operating Room Circulating Registered Nurse with at least two years of direct intraoperative circulating experience who can confidently support a variety of surgical procedures.

They should possess a strong understanding of perioperative nursing responsibilities, including patient preparation, surgical safety verification, intraoperative coordination, and maintaining a safe operating room environment.

The strongest applicants will have hands-on experience circulating in orthopedic surgery, general surgery, da Vinci robotic-assisted procedures, and select OB/GYN cases.

This opportunity is specifically intended for nurses with established Operating Room circulating backgrounds. Experience exclusively in Pre-Op, Post-Op, PACU, or Endoscopy/GI does not satisfy the position's minimum requirements.

Candidates should demonstrate adaptability, strong communication skills, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to maintain patient safety throughout complex surgical procedures.

Compensation

$70,000 – $90,000 annually

Compensation within the listed range will be determined based on the candidate's Operating Room circulating experience, surgical specialty expertise, robotic-assisted surgery background, additional clinical qualifications, and overall alignment with the position.
