Rehab & Fitness Assistant Trainer
Summary
Train and support seniors in strength and aquatic therapy programs at Singapore’s first private assisted living development, overseeing gym operations and hydrotherapy sessions.
We are looking for a passionate, driven, and experienced trainer (full-time and part-time) to manage the Gym Tonic program and to support therapists in delivering aquatic therapy sessions at Perennial Living, Singapore's first private assisted living development. This role combines hands-on training, programme oversight, outreach, and operational leadership, working closely with residents and seniors in the community.
Key Responsibilities
Fitness Training
- Conduct and supervise Gym Tonic strength training programmes for elderly participants.
- Perform physical fitness and functional assessments (pre- and post-programme).
- Assist in outreach and advocacy activities, including health and frailty screening, community engagement, and health talks.
- Customise and refine training programmes based on established Gym Tonic protocols and participant needs.
- Analyse fitness data and prepare outcome reports.
- Support daily gym operations, ensuring safety, professionalism, and service quality.
- Oversee general maintenance, cleanliness, and hygiene of gym facilities.
- Participate/attend Gym Tonic Community of Practice (COP) workgroup meetings, training and continued education.
Hydrotherapy
- Prepare and maintain the hydrotherapy pool, treatment areas, and equipment to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
- Assist therapists in delivering hydrotherapy and aquatic rehabilitation programmes for clients with a range of rehabilitation needs.
- Support client safety by assisting with pool entry and exit, supervising clients during sessions, and reporting any concerns to the therapist.
- Perform operational duties including equipment checks, documentation, and general administrative support.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Exercise & Health Science, Fitness Management, Physiotherapy or a related discipline
- At least 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in fitness, wellness, rehabilitation, or geriatric-related settings
- Genuine passion for and enjoyment in working with seniors
- Experience in geriatric care, rehabilitation, wellness gyms, hydrotherapy or aquatic exercise programs will be a strong advantage
- Strong communication, teamwork, interpersonal, and basic report-writing skills
- Willingness to learn and grow, and even involve in research study
- Candidates with recognised healthcare or community care certifications (e.g. FIC, ACE, or SGUS Community Care and Health) are encouraged to apply
