Release & Deployment Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Release & Deployment Manager based in Canada.

This role is responsible for orchestrating reliable, high-quality software releases across complex, cross-functional environments.
You will own release planning and coordination, ensuring teams are aligned on timelines, dependencies, risks, testing, and deployment readiness.
The position sits at the intersection of engineering, QA, DevOps, change management, and business stakeholders.
You’ll translate highly technical information into clear updates that enable informed decisions at every stage of a release.
Your leadership will help minimize operational risk while improving the speed, predictability, and quality of software delivery.
The role is particularly well suited to someone who thrives in fast-moving environments where priorities, technologies, and release requirements can evolve quickly.
You’ll also play a key role in continuously improving release and deployment practices across the organization.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and coordinate comprehensive release plans, including schedules, dependencies, milestones, deployment activities, and stakeholder communications.
  • Own the end-to-end release management process, ensuring releases follow established policies, controls, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate release activities across engineering, QA, DevOps, operations, change management, and other relevant teams.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for release-related communication, providing clear and timely updates on progress, readiness, risks, issues, and business impact.
  • Identify, assess, and manage risks that could affect release scope, timelines, quality, or operational stability, escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Work closely with QA teams to ensure appropriate testing, validation, acceptance criteria, and release-readiness checks are completed before deployment.
  • Partner with Change Management to ensure software releases are aligned with change policies and procedures and that operational impacts are properly managed.
  • Monitor release dependencies and resolve blockers quickly, particularly when working under tight deadlines or during high-priority deployments.
  • Leverage CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices to support efficient, repeatable, and reliable software delivery.
  • Analyze release performance and outcomes to identify bottlenecks, recurring issues, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Establish and implement release management best practices that improve deployment efficiency, predictability, quality, and transparency.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively by extracting key information and translating it into concise, actionable messages for different audiences.
  • Requirements

    • Proven experience working as a Release Manager, ideally within environments involving live games or other continuously delivered software products.
    • Demonstrated experience managing complex software releases across multiple teams, disciplines, and technical dependencies.
    • Strong understanding of software release management, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and deployment processes.
    • Solid project management skills, including the ability to plan, schedule, coordinate, prioritize, and track multiple release activities simultaneously.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build alignment across technical and non-technical teams.
    • Strong leadership skills and the confidence to coordinate cross-functional teams while managing expectations and competing priorities.
    • Ability to quickly understand highly technical concepts, identify the essential information, and communicate it clearly to different audiences.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to make sound decisions and resolve issues efficiently under pressure.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly when managing dependencies, risks, schedules, and release readiness.
    • Adaptability and resilience in fast-changing environments, combined with a continuous improvement mindset.
    • Ability to balance delivery speed with software quality, operational stability, and risk management.
    • Comfortable working collaboratively across engineering, QA, DevOps, operations, and change management functions.
    • Benefits

      • Opportunity to take ownership of software release and deployment processes across a complex technical environment.
      • High-impact role working across engineering, QA, DevOps, operations, and change management teams.
      • Exposure to modern CI/CD and DevOps practices and opportunities to improve software delivery processes.
      • Collaborative environment with strong cross-functional interaction and visibility across the organization.
      • Opportunity to influence release governance, deployment quality, operational stability, and continuous improvement.
      • Dynamic environment suited to professionals who enjoy solving complex problems and managing evolving priorities.
      • Professional growth opportunities through exposure to diverse technologies, teams, and release initiatives.
      • Full-time opportunity based in Canada.
      • Equal-opportunity environment committed to diversity, inclusion, collaboration, and professional development.
