Release/DevOps Engineer
Summary
Release/DevOps Engineer managing configuration, environments, change and release processes with on-call rotation, using AWS, Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes/EKS, and GitLab CI.
The successful candidate will be accountable for:
Configuration Management:
- Automating provisioning, configuration, installation, and monitoring across environments.
- Ensuring consistent software versions and configuration standards.
- Configuring new servers to agreed standards.
- Implementing automation for configuration changes.
Environment Management:
- Managing and maintaining all environments.
- Troubleshooting environment issues and ensuring stability and availability.
- Automating consistent environment provisioning and changes with other teams.
Change Management:
- Managing the change and release process; identifying
and introducing improvements.
- Facilitating CAB (Change Advisory Board) meetings,
ensuring that all risks and dependencies in the release cycle are identified.
- Developing improvements to improve software release cycle times and remove blockers.
Release Management:
- Undertaking release deployments (and rollbacks when necessary) during the approved operational release/deployment windows as part of the team rotation.
- Participating in weekend on-call rotation, identify and escalate operational issues as and when required.
- Working closely with the wider Development, Infrastructure and Network Security teams to ensure appropriate attention is given to production/system reliability following release deployments.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications/skills:
- Minimum of 3 years working experience in a DevOps
/ SRE
position.
- Hands on experience working with both Windows and Linux servers; comfortable working on the terminal/command line.
- Configuring custom/in-house windows services and IIS websites
- Working with cloud service providers (AWS)
- Infrastructure as code (CloudFormation/Terraform)
- Configuration management and provisioning (Ansible)
- Kubernetes/EKS; ArgoCD will be considered as advantage
- Scripting (bash /
powershell / python).
- Gitlab CI or similar.
- Basic knowledge of networking concepts, such as protocols/ports,
firewall rules and subnetting - Good command of the English language, both verbal and written.
