BluePearl Pet Hospital is excited to announce an opening for a Veterinary Assistant to join our Patient Care team in Kirkland, WA! This position is relief, not a full-time role.

Pay: $22 - $33 / hour

This is a starting point, pay is dependent on experience, licensure, and leveling through our competency system.

You will work alongside board-certified critical care specialists and other skilled veterinary professionals to provide remarkable care for our patients and their families. You will have the ability to collaborate with our client service, patient care, and specialty department teams.

As a Patient Care Assistant some of your responsibilities will include assisting with physical exams on patients, preparing supplies for treatments and procedures, performing in-house lab work, and assisting with radiographs. Good communication skills and compassion is a must. The right candidate will be comfortable assisting with the treatments and monitoring of critically ill patients.

As a Patient Care Veterinary Assistant, you will:

• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.

• Assist the doctor with creating patient treatment plans and thoroughly explaining to owners.

• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.

• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.

• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.

• Assist with phlebotomy and intravenous catheters.

• Identify patients at risk for arrest and assist with CPR.

• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.

• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
