Position Purpose

We are seeking a practical, hands-on Warehouse Supervisor to support operations across both Relocations and Records Management warehouse environments.

The Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that customer goods and records are received, stored, captured, handled and dispatched accurately, safely and professionally.

This is not a purely supervisory or office-based position. The successful candidate must be comfortable working across warehouse operations, administration, team coordination and customer-facing activities, and must be willing to step in wherever operational support is required.

The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable operating a forklift, assisting with loading and warehouse housekeeping, capturing client and inventory information, coordinating warehouse activities and communicating professionally with customers.

A valid Code 10 driver's licence and valid forklift operator's licence are essential requirements for this position.

Key Responsibilities

1. Warehouse Operations – Relocations & Records Management

  • Take day-to-day responsibility for the order, cleanliness, presentation, safety and effective use of warehouse space.
  • Receive, check, label, position, store, retrieve and dispatch household effects, pallet boxes, records boxes and other stored items in accordance with operational procedures.
  • Ensure customer goods and records are handled carefully and stored in the correct locations.
  • Maintain accurate identification and traceability of stored goods and records.
  • Prepare goods and records for collections and deliveries.
  • Assist practically with loading, unloading, moving, organising and cleaning when required.
  • Safely operate a forklift as required.
  • Complete or support routine forklift and equipment checks.
  • Conduct regular stock, storage, housekeeping and warehouse condition checks.
  • Identify and report missing items, damage, hazards, maintenance concerns or other operational issues promptly.
  • Provide operational support across both Relocations and Records Management activities during busy periods, employee leave or absence.
  • Ensure warehouse space is organised and utilised efficiently.

2. Warehouse Administration & Systems

  • Complete and verify warehouse documentation relating to receipts, storage, collections and deliveries.
  • Accurately capture client, shipment, inventory and movement information.
  • Maintain accurate information on relevant PC-based systems, databases, store ledgers and spreadsheets.
  • Ensure supporting documentation is forwarded to the appropriate teams for processing or invoicing.
  • Maintain organised and accurate operational records.
  • Provide clear and timely status updates to the Operations team.
  • Use email, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams confidently for operational communication and meetings.
  • Ensure administrative records accurately reflect physical warehouse movements.

3. Customer Collections & Deliveries

  • Undertake or assist with local customer collections and deliveries when required.
  • Represent the company professionally when visiting customer premises.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers.
  • Ensure customers' property, goods and records are handled carefully and respectfully.
  • Confirm collection and delivery information before completing movements.
  • Obtain all required collection and delivery documentation.
  • Identify and escalate service-related issues promptly.
  • Develop positive working relationships with customers, drivers, warehouse crews, subcontractors, suppliers and colleagues.
  • Recognise potential customer requirements and refer possible service opportunities to the appropriate internal team.

4. Supervision, Teamwork & Operational Support

  • Coordinate daily warehouse activities.
  • Allocate work appropriately to ensure tasks are completed safely, accurately and on time.
  • Guide employees and service providers regarding operational procedures, housekeeping, customer service and safety standards.
  • Work closely with teams supporting both Relocations and Records Management.
  • Share relevant operational information and provide cover where required.
  • Lead by example with a practical, hands-on approach.
  • Be willing to assist with operational tasks regardless of level when required to keep the warehouse running effectively.
  • Escalate staffing, workflow, quality or customer concerns to management.
  • Assist management with corrective actions when operational problems arise.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability and high operational standards.

5. Health, Safety, Security & Compliance

  • Follow and reinforce occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate security, operational and quality standards.
  • Identify workplace hazards and take appropriate practical action to eliminate, isolate or reduce risks within the scope of the role.
  • Support incident reporting and accident investigations.
  • Assist with internal operational and safety checks.
  • Maintain warehouse areas in an audit-ready condition.
  • Ensure forklifts and other warehouse equipment are operated safely and responsibly.
  • Ensure work areas remain safe, clean and organised.
  • Protect confidential customer information.
  • Maintain appropriate security and access controls relating to stored records and customer property.
  • Ensure required personal protective equipment is used appropriately.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Grade 12 / Matric is required.

Additional Qualifications

A certificate, short course or diploma in any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Warehousing

  • A related operational field

Licences – Essential

Candidates must have both:

  • Valid Code 10 driver's licence
  • Valid forklift operator's licence

Candidates who do not meet both licence requirements will not be considered.

Experience

  • Relevant practical experience within warehousing, logistics, removals, relocations, storage, records management or a closely related operational environment.
  • Experience coordinating warehouse activities.
  • Previous supervisory or team-coordination experience is highly advantageous.
  • Experience working directly with customers, drivers, crews, suppliers or service providers would be beneficial.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a genuinely hands-on operational background rather than purely administrative warehouse experience.

Computer & Systems Skills

Candidates must be computer literate and comfortable using:

The successful candidate must also be capable of learning and using warehouse, inventory, customer and records-management systems.

  • Reliable transport is required.
  • Candidates should live within reasonable travelling distance of Philippi, Cape Town.
  • The position is based on-site.

They should be comfortable taking ownership of daily operations while still being willing to operate a forklift, assist with loading or housekeeping, complete warehouse administration, interact with customers and support collections or deliveries when required.

A valid Code 10 driver's licence and valid forklift operator's licence are non-negotiable requirements.
