Remote AWS Cloud Backend Developer (Java, Microservices)

IBM Consulting in Italy seeks an Application Developer: AWS Cloud Backend Developer to design and build cloud-native applications across Agile teams. You will work with Java, Quarkus and Kafka to deliver scalable microservices and data-rich solutions on AWS.

You will collaborate with architecture, platform and DevOps teams, ensure security and performance, and contribute to CI/CD and release management. The role offers meal vouchers, health insurance, pension, smart working and growth

Design and develop cloud-native applications and services using AWS technologies. Develop scalable backend microservices using 12-factor principles, exposing APIs and event-driven interfaces with Java, Quarkus and Kafka. Design and implement data persistence layers utilizing relational and NoSQL databases. Contribute to CI/CD processes, supporting automated testing, delivery and release management. Develop and deploy solutions on AWS with compute, storage, databases, and observability services. Work with architecture, platform and DevOps teams applying software engineering best practices. Apply security, performance, observability, and code quality best practices for reliable enterprise apps. Strong experience in Java development. Hands-on experience with Quarkus. Solid knowledge of Microservices Architecture and distributed systems. Experience developing RESTful APIs and backend integrations. Experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures. Experience with relational databases, including Oracle Database and PostgreSQL. Experience with NoSQL databases, particularly MongoDB. Good knowledge of AWS Cloud services and cloud-native application development. Understanding of containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. Experience working in Agile delivery environments. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
