Remote Full-Stack Developer (Mid-Level)

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding FinTech startup with a strong presence in Cape Town, Western Cape, is looking for a talented and motivated Mid-Level Full-Stack Developer to join their entirely remote engineering team. This is a remote-first position, meaning all collaboration, development, and team interactions occur virtually. You will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining robust, scalable web applications that power our client's innovative financial solutions. You'll contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle, from concept and design to implementation and deployment, working from your home office anywhere in the world.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement new user-facing features using modern frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
• Build and maintain scalable back-end services using languages and frameworks such as Node.js, Python (Django/Flask), Java (Spring), or Ruby on Rails.
• Develop and manage database schemas and queries (SQL and NoSQL).
• Write efficient, reusable, and testable code.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define product requirements and technical specifications.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience in full-stack web development.
• Proficiency in at least one modern front-end framework (React, Angular, Vue.js) and its core JavaScript concepts.
• Strong experience with back-end development using Node.js, Python, Java, or similar technologies.
• Solid understanding of database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
