Remote | Physics Expert (Postdoc / Junior professor) — $80–$150/hour
We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for Physics Experts at the postdoctoral, research-fellow, junior-faculty, or senior-research-scientist level with strong expertise in theoretical or computational physics, technical review, error detection, scientific verification, and rigorous written communication.
Selected professionals will critically evaluate advanced physics solutions and derivations, identify substantive scientific errors, independently verify technical claims, and provide precise research-level feedback. The engagement is focused primarily on professionals based in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. No prior experience in AI is required.
Key Responsibilities
Physics Review & Error Detection
- Critically evaluate advanced physics solutions, derivations, and theoretical arguments
- Identify mathematical, physical, dimensional, methodological, or logical errors
- Assess whether conclusions follow from stated assumptions and applicable physical principles
- Distinguish substantive scientific issues from stylistic or cosmetic differences
- Apply research-level judgement across specialised physics problems
Verification & Computational Analysis
- Independently reproduce or validate key calculations and technical claims
- Test derivations using alternative approaches, limiting cases, or parameter regimes
- Use LaTeX, SymPy, Python, Jupyter, or comparable tools for symbolic and numerical verification
- Identify discrepancies between analytical and computational results
- Recognise when multiple approaches are scientifically valid or additional assumptions are required
Scientific Feedback & Evaluation
- Explain technical errors and weaknesses clearly and precisely
- Provide concise, actionable recommendations for stronger reasoning or corrections
- Review model-generated physics content for scientific accuracy and rigour
- Deliver structured written assessments suitable for research-level work
- Support iterative refinement while preserving valid technical reasoning
Ideal Profile
- PhD in Physics
- Active or recent independent research record within a specialised physics subfield
- Experience as a postdoctoral researcher, research fellow, junior or assistant professor, senior research scientist, or comparable role
- Expertise in areas such as high-energy physics, mathematical physics, biophysics, statistical physics, condensed matter, AMO/quantum optics, gravitation, cosmology, quantum information, or optical materials
- Representative publications from approximately the last five years, with arXiv or DOI references available
- Experience reviewing scientific work through peer review, supervision, dissertation committees, seminars, or comparable settings
- Advanced proficiency with LaTeX
- Strong working knowledge of SymPy, Python, and Jupyter
- Strong ability to detect technical errors and explain them precisely
- Exceptional analytical and scientific-writing skills
- Reliable high-speed internet and access to a computer suitable for theoretical or computational work
- No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required
