Delivery Driver (PT)
for Meals on Wheels at Lillian Smith Senior Center
Clayton, DE
Monday – Friday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm with paid vacation, sick, and holiday pay (NO NIGHTS OR WEEKENDS)
SUMMARY: Drives a truck or automobile over an established route to deliver meals to homebound seniors (Meals on Wheels).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drives vehicle to deliver hot foods to clients' homes according to route and diet sheets
- Collects donations from clients and returns them to the office
- Preheats carriers and packs meals for delivery
- Monitors temperatures of meals with a thermometer to maintain the quality and safety of food
- Records delivery information, meal orders, time, and mileage on appropriate forms
- Educates regular clients on the importance of regular voluntary contributions
- Follows all sanitation and safety procedures
- Loads and unloads the vehicle
- Maintains vehicle to adequate performance standards
- Alerts the appropriate authority of any conditions or circumstances that could affect the client’s health or safety and requests wellness checks if warranted
- Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) or 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
- Must present a valid driver’s license
- Must have a clean driving record at the time of hire with “0” points
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms
- The employee is occasionally required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, stoop, and kneel
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally move up to 50 pounds with assistance
