Job Purpose

The Repair Technician is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, testing, upgrading, and documenting ROMTech medical devices to ensure products meet quality, safety, and performance standards. This role supports manufacturing, service, and operational objectives by performing device diagnostics and repairs, maintaining inventory accuracy, documenting device history records, supporting quality control activities, and ensuring compliance with applicable company, FDA, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements. The Repair Technician contributes to product reliability, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement through effective technical expertise, documentation practices, and collaboration across departments.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Duties

  • Perform quality inspections and functional testing of devices utilizing company systems, software applications, and established quality procedures.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and validate complex electromechanical medical devices within established specifications and procedures.
  • Document repairs, inspections, testing results, and device history records using ERP and other company systems.
  • Ensure repaired and upgraded devices meet quality, safety, and operational requirements prior to release.
  • Perform device upgrades, modifications, and retrofits as directed.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of finished goods, replacement components, defective parts, and repair materials.
  • Analyze repair trends and provide repair activity and trending reports to management.
  • Communicate Return Material Authorization (RMA) activity and repair status updates as required.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable FDA, OSHA, company quality system, and operational requirements.
  • Build, assemble, disassemble, and reassemble devices and components as required.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to device reliability, repair efficiency, quality, and inventory control.
  • Maintain technical knowledge of current products, device updates, and repair procedures.
  • Ensure repair, storage, and work areas are maintained in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Assist in maintaining company vehicles used for business operations, if applicable.

Other Functions

  • Support inventory audits and cycle count activities.
  • Assist with receiving, shipping, packaging, and logistics functions as needed.
  • Participate in training, safety meetings, team meetings, and quality improvement activities.
  • Assist with special projects and operational initiatives as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support operational and business needs.
