Requirements:

• Strong SQL Server development experience.
• Advanced Power BI development skills.
• Experience building dashboards and operational reports.
• Data warehousing knowledge.
• ETL and data transformation experience.
• Data quality and validation expertise.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience documenting reporting solutions.
• Previous Local Government or Childrens Social Care experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Childrens Social Care stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and produce technical specifications.
• Develop, optimise and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures and views.
• Design, develop and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards and visualisations.
• Carry out data validation and quality assurance testing to ensure reporting accuracy.
• Create and maintain a centralised report catalogue.
• Produce documentation including data dictionaries, business logic and report specifications.
• Investigate and resolve reporting issues, data discrepancies and SQL performance bottlenecks.
• Transform data from multiple systems through light ETL processes.
• Manage Power BI security, user permissions and data governance.
• Work closely with Database Administrators and Data Engineers to improve data models.
• Mentor colleagues on reporting best practice.

We are working with a Local Authority supporting Childrens Social Care. This is a hybrid role with one day per week onsite, offering £500 per day and falling inside IR35. We are looking for an experienced Senior Power BI and SQL Reporting Developer to work closely with business stakeholders and deliver high-quality reporting solutions that provide valuable operational and strategic insight.
