Bank of China is seeking a junior Data Analyst to support data analysis, reporting, and data management activities within our financial services business. You will work closely with senior analysts, finance, risk, and business teams to help ensure data is accurate, well-governed, and fit for reporting and decision-making.

This is a Two Year Term Contract, with strong potential to convert to an ongoing role upon successful completion.

Responsibilities:
  • Extract, transform, and analyse data using SQL from internal databases and data warehouses
  • Perform data analysis and automation using Python (e.g. pandas, numpy)
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports
  • Support regular financial, risk, and regulatory reporting
  • Assist with data quality checks, reconciliation, and issue investigation
  • Help maintain data definitions, business rules, and metadata documentation
  • Support data management activities, including data validation and cleansing, tracking data lineage and sources
  • Assisting with data controls and governance processes
  • Respond to ad-hoc data and reporting requests from stakeholders
  • Understand reporting needs across finance and business stakeholders

To be considered, possessing following skills and experience are essential:
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in Data Analyst, Business Analyst or similar analytical role
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction
  • Advanced proficiency in reporting and automation tools, data analysis, visualisation including Python, SQL, Excel, Power BI
  • Proven experience in an accounting, commercial, financial reporting or analytics environment
  • Solid understanding of data management fundamentals, including data quality, reconciliation, data definitions, documentation, data controls and validation
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on data accuracy and integrity
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain data insights to non-technical stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin
  • Previous experience in the financial services industries (banking, lending, insurance or superannuation) is preferred
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks and regulatory data requirements will be highly regarded
