Reporting Migration Business Analyst

Summary

The Reporting Migration Business Analyst will collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams to document requirements, validate data, and support the migration of existing reports. The role involves using SQL and BI tools to ensure report accuracy and facilitate testing throughout the migration process.

Salary: $110 ph incl Super

About the role

You will work with business stakeholders, reporting teams and technical specialists to review existing reports, understand what they are used for, document requirements, validate outputs and support testing during the migration process. The role requires someone who can ask good questions, write clear documentation, understand basic data logic, and work through reporting issues in a practical way.

Key responsibilities

  • Engage with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs, business rules and current report usage.

  • Facilitate discussions, interviews and workshops to gather information.

  • Write clear business requirements, functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.

  • Review existing reports and help document what they do, where the data comes from, and what needs to be retained or changed.

  • Write and interpret simple SQL queries to support data investigation and validation.

  • Support report testing, UAT, defect logging and issue resolution.

  • Compare legacy report outputs against migrated reports to confirm accuracy.

  • Document data issues, business rules, reporting logic and testing outcomes.

  • Work closely with BI developers, data engineers and project stakeholders.

  • Support reporting rationalisation, migration planning and business sign-off.

About you

  • Business analysis experience, including stakeholder engagement and writing documentation or business requirements.

  • Ability to write or understand simple SQL.

  • Experience supporting testing, UAT, validation or defect management.

  • Experience working with reports, dashboards, datasets or business reporting processes.

  • Exposure to SAS, Tableau, Power BI or another BI/reporting tool.

  • Good attention to detail and the ability to validate numbers across systems.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain data/reporting concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • A practical, delivery-focused approach.
