Research Analyst - China Coverage
You will conduct fundamental and quantitative research on Chinese industries and companies to identify investment opportunities. You will gather and analyse market, company, and financial data; build financial models and forecasts; prepare research reports and presentations; collaborate with portfolio managers; and maintain compliant research records.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed knowledge of assigned industries and companies and assess market developments, news, and related data.
- Gather industry and company research data and maintain accurate, current research databases.
- Collect information on financial performance, competitive positioning, and company management quality.
- Use quantitative tools to analyse market sectors and trends and conduct statistical analysis.
- Develop and maintain financial models for revenue and income forecasts, cash-flow analysis, balance-sheet analysis, and quarterly projections.
- Prepare industry and company reports, presentations, and exhibits that summarize research findings.
- Provide input on new investment ideas and portfolio positions.
- Participate in meetings with company management, brokers, and investment and research staff to obtain information and present findings.
- Document and maintain information for analysis activities.
- Ensure work complies with applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
- Extensive investment research experience focused on Chinese markets.
- Fluency in written and verbal Chinese.
- Investment analytics and economic research skills.
- Knowledge of data-gathering and analysis best practices and methodologies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of investment concepts and products.
- Knowledge of applicable regulations.
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate with investment and research teams.
- Ability to work independently in support of team goals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bloomberg, and other investment-industry standard data sources.
