Job purpose:

Janes is seeking skilled and motivated Data Integration and Modelling Analyst, with a understanding of defence equipment and systems, and hands on experience working in data-driven environments. The role involves research, data analysis, estimation and modelling of defence platforms and equipment parameters. The ideal candidate will have a relevant technical degree and have a background in data related roles or projects. Prior experience or knowledge of defence equipment and systems will be an added advantage

How you will contribute at Janes:

  • Gathering, creating, and integrating data from various sources into Janes equipment database.
  • Working with cross-functional teams (g. Air, Land, Sea, C4ISR and Weapons teams) to analyse/understand equipment level data and their interaction with various other equipment systems.
  • Identifying gaps in the existing dataset.
  • Develop models/estimates for unknown specification data-points/parameters based on in-depth research and analysis.
  • Staying abreast of emerging defence technologies.
  • Sourcing and validating the data points with primary and secondary research as per the laid down sourcing standards.
  • Conduct investigative research and contact Government agencies, Industry, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and other related organisations for information, as needed.

The ideal skills and experience for this role are:

  • Successful candidates will be a strong team player with a demonstrable interest in the defence domain, with excellent research abilities, analytical and communication skills.
  • Computer competency that includes a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint applications. Knowledge of statistical analysis including regression (in excel) will be advantageous.
  • Subject-specific training and support can be imparted to the right candidate; but military service, experience working in the defence or aviation industry are welcomed.
  • In addition, applicants should have a proven ability to build networks, conduct interviews - over the telephone, email and other communications media– as well as being able to study and interpret secondary sources, sift large quantities of data and study images. They will also have a degree of mental flexibility to conduct investigative work, if necessary.
