The Research Analyst II will support the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery by conducting biomedical and healthcare research, designing studies, and analyzing data to inform clinical operations and policy. Tria Federal (Tria) is seeking a Research Analyst II to enhance administrative and operational support services for our federal customer at the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) in Falls Church, Virginia.
This position will join a team of administrative professionals supporting healthcare operations, program management, analysis, research, education programs, correspondence/task management, and military healthcare related policies and programs.
The successful candidate will support BUMED Clinical Operations, Policy and Standards and the Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO), which are charged by the Navy Surgeon General to promote safe, quality healthcare, operational readiness, force development, Sailor and Marine deployability, and delivery of the future Naval Medical Force. Supported programs include OCMO; Quality, Safety, and Leadership Academy (QSLA); Women's Health; Trauma Strategy; Emergency Medical Services; Dental Services; Pharmacy Services; Navy Medicine Operational Clinical Communities; and Medical Research and Development.
- Hybrid position: approximately 10% on-site / 90% remote, with on-site support at BUMED, Falls Church, VA.
- Work hours may require flexibility to support Navy Medicine stakeholders across multiple time zones.
- Travel: 25% or less; some positions may require CONUS or OCONUS travel.
- Secret clearance requirements apply in accordance with the contract.

Job Description/Responsibilities
- Define research scope, objectives, methodologies, and technical requirements for assigned COPS research and analytical projects.
- Conduct literature reviews, environmental scans, technology assessments, and research on emerging biomedical, healthcare, operational, and readiness issues.
- Support Medical R&D experimentation, technical validation, study design, testing protocols, data analysis, and documentation.
- Assess efficacy, safety, operational relevance, and potential application of emerging biomedical technologies.
- Develop research specifications, analytical procedures, reports, briefings, and recommendations.
- Support policy research, gap analysis, readiness studies, data calls, and outcomes reporting.
- Coordinate with clinical, scientific, operational, acquisition, and research stakeholders across Navy Medicine and the Joint Force.
- Translate complex scientific and technical findings into actionable information for senior decision-makers.
- Identify emerging trends and technological gaps and to assist with structured experimentation and technical validation.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5–12 years of research, program evaluation, biomedical research, health-services research, epidemiology, operational research, or related analytical experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of research design, testing, documentation, analysis, and quantitative and/or qualitative research methods.
- Experience developing technical reports and communicating findings to non-technical decision-makers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and research/data-analysis applications.
- Familiarity with statistical software, SQL, SAS, R, Python, or comparable analytical tools preferred where appropriate to the research function.
Requirements:
- Secret Clearance.
- Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred in public health, health services research, biomedical science, epidemiology, operations research, data science, or related field.
- 5–12 years relevant experience.
Preferred Experience and Background:
- Navy Medicine/DoD medical R&D; operational medicine; clinical research; emerging medical technology; M2/MDR or other MHS data environments; experimentation; scientific writing; human-subject or program-evaluation research where applicable.
- Military health environment, an understanding of the military organization, understanding of military health data.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Excellent skills in multitasking, prioritization and planning, schedule management, and the coordination of complex executive functions.
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Possess strong editorial and writing skills and a keen understanding of different audiences.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
