Research Analyst
The position of Research Analyst provides support for the Office of Institutional Research by collecting and analyzing data, creating and maintaining datasets, and reporting information to internal and external entities in support of institutional decision-making.
Primary Duties
1. Assist in the administration, analysis, and distribution of information for university-wide studies and assessment activities (e.g., National Survey of Student Engagement, College Senior Survey)
2. Assist in responding to external survey requests (e.g., US News & World Report)
3. Support the day-to-day internal and external requests for information/statistics on the University and prepare ad hoc reports, as necessary
4. Perform regular data audits on admissions, enrollment, and graduation data for undergraduate and graduate programs; especially in preparation for census dates
5. Assist in producing official enrollment and other selected census statistics for the University
6. Assist in providing data for university-wide publications, such as the Fact Book
7. Provide technical and support assistance to departments on the completion of external surveys for various agencies including support for institutional self-study, accreditation, assessment, and program review
8. Provide technical and support assistance to other offices for research projects endorsed by the University, including survey review and analysis pertinent to assessment activities
9. Support innovation in data analytics through the use of Artificial Intelligence.
10. Assist in maintaining a financial aid leveraging model
11. Support retention efforts of the University through assisting in administering the Bridge to Success (BTS) survey, assisting with retention models based on BTS data and academic updates, and conducting routine retention analyses
12. Assist in maintaining dashboards for decision-making
13. Assist in maintaining the Institutional Research webpage
14. Serve on university committees as assigned
15. Consistent and reliable attendance
Secondary Duties

Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in a field requiring statistics, research, and analytic skills.
Education Preferred: Master’s Degree
Experience Required: N/A
Experience Preferred: 3-5 years of experience in a higher education environment, particularly focused on research.
Skills, Characteristics Required for Position
• Technical skills including the ability to work with Microsoft Office suite of programs (particularly Excel and PivotTables); working knowledge of administrative systems (BANNER, Oracle Fusion, Slate); statistical packages (SPSS, R), dashboarding (Power BI), familiarity with databases, programming, and reporting (Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher, Cognos reporting, Python, SQL)
• Experience and skill in research methods and data analysis including familiarity with descriptive and inferential statistics and predictive modeling
• Basic knowledge of assessment and the data necessary to support it in higher education
• Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence in data analytics (prompt engineering, output analysis)
