Research Associate (Civil Engineering/ Mechanics/ Electrical Engineering)

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) is a leading school for Sustainable Built Environment. The Research Associate (RA) will work in the field of nondestructive testing (NDT) for concrete structures with Asst Prof. Kim, Gun.

We are looking for a Research Associate to help us develop NDT methods for damage detection in concrete structures and wave propagation modeling. The role will focus on developing hardware/software for monitoring of in-service infrastructure systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Modeling of wave propagation in cementitious materials

  • Ultrasound

  • Singal processing

  • Nondestructive testing and evaluation

  • Structural health management

Job Requirements:

  • M.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanics, and Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Good written and oral communication skills in English - essential for data analysis and communication with stakeholders

  • Excellent skills for data analytics, signal processing, ultrasound waves generation

  • A good record of GPA

  • Journal publication is a plus
