Summary

Research Associate in microbiology and antimicrobial materials develops diagnostic probes and assays for bacterial infections and antimicrobial resistance, using lab techniques and in vivo studies.

School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) is an interdisciplinary school jointly established under the College of Engineering and College of Science at NTU Singapore. We are seeking a Research Associate to support the development of targeted antimicrobial systems and related assays for bacterial infections. The successful candidate will contribute to research focused on the development of probes for the detection of bacterial infection sites and the optimization of microbiological, in vivo safety, and antimicrobial activity assays. This is in line with NTU's mission to be a global hub for science and technology through excellence in research across diverse disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop probes and assay procedures suitable for clinical diagnostic laboratory applications for the detection of bacterial infections and antimicrobial resistance profiles.

  • Design, develop, test, and optimize sensing platforms for bacterial infection detection and antimicrobial activity assessment.

  • Conduct microbiological and antimicrobial assays, including experimental design, execution, and data analysis.

  • Evaluate and validate platform performance using samples from animal models.

Job Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Microbiology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Biology, or a related discipline.

  • Hands-on laboratory experience and skills in conducting in vivo studies.

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare technical reports, present research findings, and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strong sense of responsibility and commitment towards research and work objectives.
