Research Associate

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage research data and keep up-to-date research records, be able to perform data analyses and critically interpret generated data, and summarise research findings
• Search and sort out literature and database, identify key findings of previous research, and be able to paraphrase and consolidate key concepts of literature
• Conduct data collection independently (survey, classroom observation, FGD, interview, spoken and written language data)
• Process and generate descriptive data from surveys, classroom observation, FGDs, interviews and corpora independently
• Construct teaching plans or test items independently
• Design research tools for school-based project
• Project administration tasks such as scheduling and liaise with schools
• Develop and maintain co-operative working relationships with Principal Investigator, colleagues and collaborators, be able to give feedback and share ideas or experience with others, and resolve problems in most situations
• Report clearly on design and progress of research project
• Write research reports and papers, and be able to produce relevant write-ups for proposals under PI’s supervision

Job Requirements:

• Candidate must possess a Master's Degree in Linguistics/Languages or equivalent
• At least 2 Year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
• Excellent organizational skills and able to work independently within given deadlines
• Experience in working with teachers and students in Singapore schools
• Excellent problem-solving skills and project management skills
• Basic statistical knowledge and skills
• Good theoretical knowledge of research designs
• Good IT skills
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese (to liaise with Chinese speaking associates)
• Basic knowledge in Chinese Linguistics and Language Teaching and Learning
