Job Description

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for a Research Fellow (Biointerfaces and Bioelectronics).
The successful candidate will join Dr. Jiaobing Tu's research group (https://www.jiaobing-tu.com/) and contribute to interdisciplinary research at the interface of proteins, materials, and bioelectronics. The research focuses on understanding and engineering protein–material interactions for molecular sensing, adaptive biomaterials, and bioelectronic applications.

Responsibilities include:
• Develop and characterize protein-functionalized materials and biointerfaces.
• Investigate protein immobilization, orientation, conformational dynamics, and interfacial behavior.
• Perform electrochemical, biophysical, and surface characterization of protein–material systems.
• Design and optimize protein-based biosensing and bioelectronic platforms.
• Collaborate closely with researchers in protein engineering, computational protein design, and materials science.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Materials Science, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biophysics, Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: biointerfaces, surface chemistry, electrochemistry, biomaterials, protein–surface interactions, or bioelectronic systems.
• Hands-on experience with relevant characterization techniques such as electrochemistry, AFM, SPR, QCM-D, CD, FTIR, fluorescence microscopy, or related methods is desirable.
