Research Fellow - Cardiovascular Medicine - Zahid lab
Dr. Maliha Zahid's lab is seeking a Research Fellow.
Responsibilities for this post-doctoral research fellow will include:
- Working with novel cell penetrating peptides that target the lungs. We have a family of lung targeting peptides that target different cell types.
- Small animal (mouse) experiments including tail vein injections, organ harvest for ex-vivo IVIS imaging, cryoembedding, cryosectioning, immunostaining, and confocal microscopy.
- Setting up and performing routine lab procedures in support of lab goals, including cell/tissue culture, RNA extraction, qPCR, FACS experiments.
- Establishing two-and three-hit mouse models of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, perform echocardiography in mice, as well as perform RNA extraction for downstream RNA sequencing., etc. independently.
- Maintaining lab notebooks, updating protocols, summarizing data, and presenting at lab meetings, institutional seminars, and national/international meetings.
- Assisting with the upkeep of the laboratory including equipment maintenance and inventory and ordering of supplies/reagents.
- Assisting with manuscript preparation, submission, etc. as a lead author, and assisting with preparation of grants.
Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed relevant by the program. Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship, at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere.
