The College of Computing & Data Science (CCDS) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow .
The Research Fellow (RF) will play a key role in advancing the research mission of NTU by supporting cutting-edge projects in computer vision, machine learning, physical AI, and spatial AI. The RF will contribute to the development of innovative algorithms, data preparation pipelines, and experimental evaluations that are central to the Physical Vision Group’s long-term goal of building general-purpose physical simulators and spatial intelligent systems.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the RF will help ensure a healthy and vibrant research environment within the Physical Vision Group (PVG, https://physicalvision.github.io/ ). This will involve closely collaborating with faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and PhD students, bridging foundational research with real-world applications in robotics, VR/AR, and embodied AI.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct individual research within the designed project: process data, develop research methods, build and evaluate computer vision and machine learning algorithms empirically.
Author research articles at an international level for peer-reviewed conferences.
Engineer software based on the research outcomes of the project and distribute this on the group’s web.
Co-organize workshops and challenges at international conferences.
Co-supervise DPhil students and 4th year projects with the faculty associated with the project.
Manage own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.
Adapt existing and develop new scientific techniques and experimental protocols.
Test hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a variety of sources.
Contribute ideas for new research projects.
Develop ideas for generating research income, and present detailed research proposals to senior researchers.
Act as a source of information and advice to other members of the group on scientific protocols and experimental techniques.
Carry out collaborative projects with colleagues in partner institutions, research groups & industry.
Any other duties appropriate with the role.
Job Requirements:
Hold a relevant PhD/DPhil (or near completion) in Computer Vision Or Machine Learning.
Strong publication record at the principal international computer vision and machine learning conferences.
Sufficient theoretical and practical knowledge of methodologies such as deep and statistical learning.
Experience of executing research projects at the level of senior PhD student, including creating and debugging machine learning algorithem.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and present the research output at meetings.
