Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow to join the Hydrocarbon-fuel Regenerative Cooling project. The project aims to establish an integrated molecular-to-CFD research framework for developing a multi-component Hydrocarbon-fuel cracking and coking mechanism, simulating coke deposition in regenerative cooling channels, and evaluating the resulting in fuel cooling capacity. The successful candidates will work on cracking and coking process simulation and cooling capacity prediction. Major duties and responsibilities include:

• Develop detailed cracking and coking kinetic mechanisms for multi-component Hydrocarbon-fuel.

• Implement the developed cracking and coking mechanisms in OpenFOAM and perform high-fidelity CFD simulations of Hydrocarbon-fuel crack, heat transfer and coke deposition in regenerative cooling channels.

• Assists with the editing and preparation of manuscripts, reports, deliverables and presentations

• To supervise/mentor undergraduate and graduate students that work in the lab

Qualifications

The candidate must:

• PhD in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.

• Strong stills and expertise in Hydrocarbon-fuel cracking and coking, chemical kinetic mechanisms development and CFD simulations.

• Excellent experience in Hydrocarbon-fuel regenerative cooling simulation, kinetic mechanism development and validation.

• Experience with CFD software, preferably OpenFOAM.

• Proficiency in Python, C++ or MATLAB, with the ability to develop scripts for simulation automation, data processing and model integration.

• Excellent track record of publications in prestigious journals.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
