Summary

Provides research instruction and one-on-one consultations for students and faculty at George Washington University Libraries.

The George Washington University Libraries and Academic Innovation (GWLAI) seeks candidates for a temporary Research and Instruction Librarian position. The position is not eligible for benefits.

The Research and Instruction Librarian will provide research and information literacy instruction to GW students. This includes partnering with faculty in first-year research and writing courses to plan and offer course-integrated research sessions. In addition to developing and offering classroom instruction, this position will hold in-depth, one-on-one research consultations with students and faculty on a variety of topics and provide research assistance via chat, email, and phone. The Research and Instruction Librarian will perform other related duties as assigned.

The Research and Instruction Librarian will be a member of the Research and User Services team and report to a Director of Research Services.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Master's degree (or significant coursework completed) in library and/or information science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent.
  • Experience or demonstrated potential in instruction.
  • Experience or demonstrated potential in providing research assistance.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
