Job Summary
India stands at a complex challenge of ensuring
universal nutritional security for an increasing yet largely deprived
population in a rapidly changing climate. This needs action beyond producing more food – we need to evolve what we eat and how we produce,
process and distribute our food.
Sustainable agriculture practices and systems (SAPSs) offer a
potential pathway for sustainable agriculture in India. While practices like
Natural Farming (NF) have received political traction in the last couple of years, there are voices that caution a more pragmatic approach, as well as those who question the idea of a transition to natural farming. There is an urgent need to assess the strengths and weaknesses
of these emerging SAPS, and identify the opportunities and threats based on
evidence and experiences from the ground. As a part of this we are now working
towards robust evidence building, and helping embed metrics in the data collection
systems, and monitoring and evaluation for programmes, that can then
