Research Scientist
Location: Waltham – on site

Are you passionate about microbiome science and eager to contribute to cutting-edge research that improves pet health and wellbeing? We are looking for a Research Scientist to join the Microbiome Team at WALTHAM, helping to deliver world-class research that drives innovation across Mars Petcare brands globally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and deliver internal microbiome research studies, ensuring the collection of high-quality scientific data.
  • Coordinate study teams and research resources to ensure successful study execution.
  • Design, develop and communicate study protocols and supporting documentation.
  • Conduct data quality control and support data analysis in line with study objectives and hypotheses.
  • Communicate research findings effectively through written reports and presentations.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of laboratory and animal research techniques, including training colleagues where required.

What we're looking for:

  • BSc (Hons.) (or equivalent) in Microbiology, Microbiome, Biological Sciences, Animal Science, Biomedical Science, or a related scientific discipline
  • Experience designing and implementing research studies, ideally within a commercial or applied research environment
  • Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • A strong results-oriented mindset and commitment to scientific excellence.
  • Scientific curiosity and enthusiasm for microbiome research.
  • The ability to influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
