GCSD, GILA – Resident Advisor / Co-Teacher

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree with Teaching Certificate, required
• Previous experience in residential life, classroom teacher, camp counseling, or other relevant experience working with youth, preferred
• Experience working with diverse populations, preferred
• Ability to obtain a valid AK Driver's License, preferred
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Job Goal:

The Resident Advisor/Teacher position at Galena Interior Learning Academy (GILA) is a full time professional position that works with our high school residential students. The Resident Advisors/Teachers are the primary point of contact for our residential school students. Each Resident Advisor/Teacher is assigned a group of 18-25 students that they are responsible for checking in with on a regular basis. Resident Advisors/Teachers communicate with parents and keep them updated on their student's progress while at GILA. Applicants should have a passion and/or interest in working with young adults especially rural Alaska natives. Previous collegiate residence life experience is a significant plus. Room and board is provided by GCSD for this position while school is in session.
