RESIDENT ENGINEER
Summary
Oversee civil and structural construction projects in Singapore, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards while managing contractor work and site teams.
Responsibilities:
- Provide continuous supervision of civil and structural works to ensure compliance with project specifications, construction drawings, and the Building Control Act and Regulations.
- Ensure that the Contractor delivers high-quality workmanship and maintains strict safety standards in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Attend all project-related meetings, including site progress, variation, coordination, and QA/QC meetings.
- Supervise and inspect C&S, M&E, and geotechnical works such as concreting, pavement, drainage, compaction, curing of concrete, formwork, propping/de-propping, quality and erection of precast components, and steel works.
- Manage and supervise the team of Resident Technical Officers (RTOs) under your charge.
- Coordinate with the safety team to oversee WASH and aerodrome safety management systems, ensuring safe working practices are effectively implemented on site.
- Ensure construction activities do not impact or interfere with the client’s operations.
- Oversee adherence to the client’s emergency preparedness protocols during drills or actual emergency situations.
- Review and verify all reports and claims related to C&S, M&E, and geotechnical works submitted by contractors.
- Inspect and verify the quality of work and materials delivered to site, initiate corrective actions for non-compliance, and report any discrepancies to the Officer-in-Charge (OIC).
- Address contractors’ queries and coordinate on-site works to ensure smooth project execution.
- Perform duties according to the assigned shift roster.
- Undertake any other related tasks, including administrative duties, as directed by the OIC, or Client.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering recognized by the Professional Engineers Board (PEB), Singapore.
- Accredited as a Resident Engineer (RE) with the Institution of Engineers Singapore (IES).
- Minimum of 5 years of civil engineering experience, including at least 3 years in the supervision of:
Major construction works such as deep excavation, drainage, pipe jacking, ground improvement, flexible/rigid aircraft pavement, and geotechnical instrumentation monitoring; and
Viaduct, road/expressway, and geotechnical works involving deep excavation. - Able to perform shift work when required.
