Description

RESIDENTIAL MORTGAGE ASSET MANAGEMENT / SERVICING OVERSIGHT ANALYST

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a highly analytical, process-oriented Residential Mortgage Asset Management / Servicing Oversight Analyst to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of residential mortgages and mortgage servicing, combined with an exceptional ability to identify problems, understand root causes, and develop scalable processes to solve them. This is not simply a monitoring or reporting role. We are looking for someone who can look at an individual asset or servicing issue, develop repeatable solutions, improve portfolio-level controls, and continuously find ways to make our asset management processes more efficient and effective.

The successful candidate will take ownership of issues from identification through resolution, working closely with internal teams, accounting, mortgage servicers, vendors, and other counterparties.

The position will be located at our office in New York, NY.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Servicing oversight

 Monitor loan-level and portfolio performance, including delinquency, loss mitigation, modifications, foreclosure, bankruptcy, REO and payoffs.
 Oversee servicing transfers and loan boarding, and catch data and terms errors early.
 Confirm purchased balances are boarded accurately and first payments to servicers are made on time.
 Reconcile servicer reporting and remittances, and review advances (P&I, escrow and corporate), fees and claims.
 Work issues directly with servicers, vendors and counterparties through to resolution, and escalate with clear recommendations.
 Monitor foreclosure timelines against state and investor benchmarks, and follow up with servicers on delays.
 Make decisions on loss mitigation, foreclosure and REO sales.
 Maintain constant line of communications with origination partners
 Manage Early Payment Default pipeline

Process and controls

 Turn recurring issues into documented workflows, exception reports and controls that cover the whole portfolio.
 Find manual work that can be automated or eliminated.
 Work with the technology team to design dashboards and monitoring tools that surface problems before they become losses.

Data and technology

 Use Excel and SQL to analyze loan and servicing data and to size the portfolio impact of an issue.
 Use AI tools such as Claude to speed up analysis, documentation and workflow building.
 Partner with our data and technology teams to scale what you build.

Qualifications, attributes and preferred experience:

Required
 1–10 years in residential mortgage servicing, servicing oversight, asset management, mortgage operations or a related area.
 A working understanding of the mortgage lifecycle and how servicers operate.
 A track record of fixing the underlying process, not just the immediate problem.
 Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large loan-level datasets.
 Clear, concise written and verbal communication with internal teams and outside servicers.

Preferred
 Hands-on experience with loss mitigation, default servicing, advances or servicing transfers.
 Exposure to non-agency, non-QM, RTL, RPL/NPL or agency servicing guidelines.
 Basic SQL, or a strong willingness to learn it quickly.
 Experience using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT and similar) in your day-to-day work.
