Job Summary

The ReStore Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient pickup, transport, and delivery of donated materials for Austin Habitat for Humanity ReStores.

This role provides excellent customer and donor service, operates AHFH vehicles in accordance with safety and traffic laws, and supports ReStore receiving and warehouse operations.

General Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate AHFH vehicles to pick up and transport donated materials according to scheduled routes
  • Load, secure, transport, and unload donations in a manner that prevents damage to donor property and materials
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections prior to use, including fuel level and safety checks
  • Communicate professionally with donors to confirm pickup details and provide donation receipts
  • Follow all traffic laws, organizational policies, and safe‑driving practices; cell phone use while driving is prohibited except as permitted by law
  • Assist ReStore receiving and warehouse teams with unloading and staging donations
  • Oversee and provide guidance to volunteers assisting with donation pickups and unloading
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned vehicles, docks, and work areas
  • Participate in safety meetings and proactively report unsafe conditions or incidents
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of ReStore operations
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Adhere to all AHFH safety policies and procedures, including OSHA‑related guidelines
  • Operate vehicles, equipment, and tools safely and only as trained
  • Maintain situational awareness around moving vehicles, equipment, donors, volunteers, and staff
  • Promptly report accidents, injuries, near‑misses, or unsafe conditions
