Retail Manager
Key Responsibilities
Sales& Store Performance
• Drive daily, weekly and monthly sales targets and basket size for the outlet.
• Monitor sales trends and fast/slow-moving SKUs; feed back to HQ/merchandising on replenishment and promotions.
• Plan and execute in-store promotions, bundle deals, and seasonal displays (e.g. festive,back-to-school).
• Track and report daily sales, footfall, and shrinkage figures to the Area/Operations Manager.
Inventory& Merchandising
• Manage stock ordering, receiving, storage, and replenishment to avoid stock-outs of high-turn over items.
• Conduct regular stock counts/cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies against POS/inventory system.
• Ensure merchandise is displayed per planogram, price-tagged correctly, and shelves are well-stocked and tidy.
• Coordinate with suppliers/warehouse on delivery schedules and returns of damaged/expired goods.
Manpower& People Management
• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise store staff (assistant manager, sales assistants, cashiers, part-timers).
• Prepare duty rosters covering opening/closing hours, weekends and public holidays.
• Coach staff on product knowledge, upselling, and customer service standards; conduct performance reviews.
• Handle staff discipline, grievances, and escalate HR matters as needed.
Customer Service
• Ensure prompt, friendly service at the cashier and shop floor; personally handle escalated complaints and refunds.
• Uphold store cleanliness, safety, and a pleasant shopping environment for a largely price-sensitive, walk-in customer base.
Cash, Loss Prevention & Compliance
• Oversee daily cash collection, banking, and POS reconciliation; investigate and report variances.
• Implement loss-prevention measures against theft/pilferage (staff and shoplifting) and manage CCTV/security checks.
• Ensure compliance with company SOPs, fire safety, halal/labelling requirements (where applicable), and MOM workplace regulations.
• Maintain proper records for audits (stock, cash, manpower, incident reports).
