JOB DESCRIPTION
The Retail Manager, employed by HR MGMT 10 LLC as the Employer of Record, will work on-site at one of our brand partners' cannabis retail locations in METRO DETROIT to oversee day-to-day store operations. This role is responsible for managing staff, ensuring exceptional customer service, maintaining compliance with cannabis regulations, optimizing inventory, and driving sales performance. The Retail Manager will work closely with the Retail General Manager, compliance, and inventory teams to ensure the store meets all regulatory standards and achieves business goals. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, experience in retail management, and a solid understanding of the cannabis industry or similarly regulated environments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee Daily Retail Operations:
- Manage all daily operations of the retail store, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, customer service, and sales.
- Implement store policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure efficient and compliant operations.
- Monitor store performance, analyze sales reports, and develop strategies to meet or exceed sales goals and profitability targets.
Staff Leadership and Development:
- Supervise, train, and manage a team of retail staff, including Budtenders, Inventory Associates, and Customer Service Representatives, ensuring adherence to company policies and standards.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide coaching and feedback, and support team development to enhance skills and productivity.
- Foster a positive, customer-centric work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Customer Experience and Engagement:
- Ensure high standards of customer service are consistently delivered by all staff members, addressing customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback professionally.
- Develop and implement customer engagement initiatives to enhance the overall shopping experience and promote brand loyalty.
- Lead by example, providing excellent customer service and ensuring a welcoming and informative environment for all customers.
Inventory Management and Control:
- Oversee inventory management processes, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and reconciling inventory to maintain accurate levels and minimize shrinkage.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and audits, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure all cannabis products are properly labeled, packaged, and displayed in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Compliance and Safety Management:
- Ensure the store operates in full compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including cannabis-specific health, safety, and security standards.
- Conduct regular compliance checks and audits to ensure adherence to SOPs, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Collaborate with the Compliance Manager to address any compliance-related issues, implement corrective actions, and prepare for regulatory inspections.
Financial Management and Reporting:
- Assist in developing and managing the store's budget, including expense management, sales forecasting, and profit and loss (P&L) analysis.
- Monitor expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement measures to optimize profitability.
- Prepare and submit required reports to the Retail General Manager, providing insights on store performance, challenges, and opportunities for growth.
Community Engagement and Marketing Support:
- Collaborate with the marketing team to execute local marketing and promotional strategies to drive traffic and increase sales.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, community members, and local stakeholders to promote the brand and enhance the store's reputation.
- Plan and coordinate in-store events, product launches, and promotions to engage customers and drive sales.
Coordination and Communication:
- Work closely with the Retail General Manager, compliance, inventory, and other internal teams to align retail operations with company goals and objectives.
- Provide regular updates to the Retail General Manager on store activities, staff performance, inventory status, and potential risks or improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in retail management, preferably within the cannabis, pharmaceutical, or similarly regulated industries.
- Strong knowledge of retail operations, inventory management, sales strategies, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing retail teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems, inventory management software, and MS Office, particularly Excel.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 21+ years old.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required state-specific certifications for retail roles within the cannabis industry.
- Physical ability to perform typical retail tasks, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 30 lbs.
