Role Overview
The Retail Processor serves as the primary point of contact for borrowers after application, ensuring loan files move efficiently from submission through closing. This role coordinates communication between borrowers, Loan Officers, Underwriters, title companies, appraisers, and other third-party partners while maintaining compliance with company, investor, and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering an outstanding customer experience while managing a high-volume pipeline.
Essential Functions
Loan Processing & Pipeline Management
- Review loan files to ensure required disclosures, checklists, and program-specific documentation are complete
- Maintain accurate loan status updates and detailed communication notes within the Loan Origination System (LOS)
- Monitor loan pipelines to ensure milestones and deadlines are met
- Prepare complete loan packages for submission to Underwriting
- Ensure closing instructions and required documentation are delivered to title companies on schedule
- Review final settlement statements with the Loan Officer prior to closing
Borrower & Partner Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for borrowers throughout the loan process
- Collect outstanding documentation and resolve conditions in a timely manner
- Communicate loan status updates, underwriting approvals, and next steps to borrowers and Loan Officers
- Coordinate with appraisers, title companies, employers, insurance agents, and other third-party vendors
- Build positive relationships with internal teams, referral partners, and customers through exceptional service
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure loan files meet company, investor, and regulatory guidelines
- Verify documentation accuracy before underwriting and closing
- Maintain compliance with established company policies, procedures, and processing standards
- Collaborate with Mortgage Experts and Operations teams to deliver a seamless borrower experience
- Perform additional duties as assigned
