Retail Shipping Manager
Title: RETAIL SHIPPING MANAGER
Retail Fulfillment • Transportation • Customer Compliance
Location: BUILT Brands Corporate Office - American Fork, Utah
THE OPPORTUNITY:
We are seeking a hands-on Retail Shipping Manager to own the execution of retail customer shipments from purchase-order receipt through delivery. This role is accountable for accurate, on-time, in-full, and compliant fulfillment while balancing customer service, freight cost, and operational priorities.
What You’ll Do
Manage retail orders from receipt through shipment and delivery confirmation, prioritizing ship-by dates, requested delivery dates, MABD windows, and customer requirements.
Confirm inventory and order readiness; identify shortages, holds, or production constraints early and coordinate recovery plans with Planning, Fulfillment, Warehouse, Sales Operations, and Customer Service.
Select the appropriate parcel, LTL, or FTL solution based on service requirements, capacity, reliability, transit time, and total freight cost.
Tender loads, schedule pickups and delivery appointments, monitor shipments in transit, and escalate delays, missed appointments, or other service risks.
Maintain compliance with retailer routing guides, appointment processes, labeling, pallet configuration, EDI, ASN, BOL, proof-of-delivery, and documentation requirements.
Communicate shipment status, risks, shortages, and revised expectations clearly and promptly to internal partners and customer-facing teams.
Maintain accurate shipment records in applicable systems, including actual ship and delivery dates, tracking, carrier, freight cost, and exception reasons.
Investigate OTIF failures, deductions, chargebacks, claims, and recurring service issues; lead corrective actions and process improvements.
Identify opportunities to consolidate loads, improve utilization, reduce premium freight and accessorials, and lower freight cost without compromising service.
What We’re Looking For
3–5+ years of experience in transportation, retail logistics, customer fulfillment, or shipping operations; food, beverage, consumer products, or other high-volume retail experience preferred.
Working knowledge of retail routing guides, MABD or requested delivery dates, appointments, ASNs, EDI, BOLs, PODs, parcel, LTL, and FTL shipping.
Experience using ERP, transportation, warehouse, carrier, and retailer portal systems; NetSuite experience is a plus.
Strong analytical and Excel skills, including experience with dashboards, scorecards, freight comparisons, and root-cause analysis.
Clear, proactive communication, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a high volume of time-sensitive orders and exceptions.
A continuous-improvement mindset with the ability to balance service, cost, compliance, and cross-functional accountability.
