The Revenue Sr. Analyst is responsible for supporting accurate and compliant revenue recognition in accordance with U.S. GAAP, ASC 606, and company accounting policies. This role partners closely with Revenue Accounting, Finance, Sales, Legal, Operations, and IT teams to ensure revenue transactions are appropriately recorded, analyzed, and reported.
The ideal candidate combines a solid foundation in accounting and revenue recognition with strong analytical and technical skills. This individual should be highly proficient in Excel, comfortable working with large datasets, possess SQL (or other data language) and data analytics capabilities, and demonstrate the ability to quickly understand complex business processes, systems, and data flows. The role offers significant exposure to technical accounting, contract reviews, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support revenue recognition activities and contract reviews in accordance with U.S. GAAP, ASC 606, and company policies.
- Analyze customer contracts to identify revenue implications, performance obligations, and pricing considerations.
- Assist with the preparation of technical accounting analyses, revenue-related documentation, and audit support materials.
- Perform data analysis and reporting to support revenue accounting, SSP studies, forecasting, and management reporting.
- Extract, validate, and reconcile financial data from ERP systems and other business applications.
- Partner with Finance, Sales, Legal, Operations, and IT teams to support business initiatives and ensure compliance with accounting requirements.
- Support SOX controls, internal and external audits, and ongoing process improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to system enhancements, automation projects, and reporting solutions by leveraging strong Excel, SQL, and analytical skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field
- Member of a professional accounting body (ACA/ACCA/CPA); preferred
- 3–5 years of experience in revenue accounting, financial analysis, technical accounting, or a related finance role
- Strong technical accounting skills, dealing with complex revenue arrangements
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606; considered an advantage
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with SQL and data visualization/analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to extract, analyze and interpret large datasets; considered an advantage
- Strong systems aptitude with the ability to quickly understand business processes, data flows, and ERP environments
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and enhanced reporting
