RF Hardware Engineer Intern
SoloPulse is looking for an ambitious RF hardware engineer intern to aid in designing, assembling, and fabricating SDR-based data acquisition systems. This is a part-time role for Q4 2026.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and modify SDR hardware, including fine-pitch SMD rework such as replacing on-board oscillators
- Build matched-length coax cable sets and the reference clock and PPS distribution between boards
- Design and 3D-print enclosures, board mounts and a repeatable 4-element antenna array fixture
- Run bring-up, phase-stability and calibration tests, and log the results
- Write clear build notes so each unit can be reproduced
Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline
- Confident SMD soldering and rework: hot air, flux, solder wick, working under magnification
- Parametric CAD in Fusion 360, Onshape or FreeCAD, and the ability to model accurate parts from caliper measurements
- Practical FDM printing experience: tolerances, print orientation, heat-set inserts, material choice
- Comfortable with a multimeter and oscilloscope, and good ESD habits
- A methodical approach to debugging, and the habit of taking notes
Nice to Have Qualifications
- Amateur radio license, or experience with RTL-SDR or GNU Radio
- Linux and Python basics
- KiCad or other PCB design experience
- Time on a robotics, rocketry, CubeSat or Formula SAE team
