RF Test Engineer
Summary
Develop RF test plans and perform subsystem/system-level testing and characterization for satellite technology. Use VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and OrCAD to validate RF chains and components, collaborating with engineering teams on space-tech hardware.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop RF test plans, test
procedures, test matrices and acceptance criteria.
- Perform module, subsystem
and system-level RF testing and characterization.
- Measure gain, insertion
loss, return loss/VSWR, P1dB, IP3, noise figure, harmonics, spurious,
isolation, phase noise and frequency accuracy.
- Test RF chains including T/R
modules, PA, LNA, PLL/synthesizer, mixers, filters, switches, up/down
converters and beamformers.
- Perform RF calibration,
channel-to-channel amplitude/phase verification and RF path validation.
- Develop RF test setups and
troubleshoot hardware, LO, clock, power and signal-chain issues.
- Support integration,
qualification, ATP/QTP and production acceptance testing.
- Prepare test reports,
failure analysis, requirement compliance and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with
digital/FPGA, software, mechanical, system and production teams.
- Coordinate with PCB/layout
engineers to ensure schematic-to-layout implementation complies with RF design
and manufacturing requirements.
- Guide and review RF PCB
layout and routing for controlled impedance, grounding, shielding, isolation,
return-current paths, RF component placement and signal integrity.
- Create RF schematics in
OrCAD Capture, including RF signal paths, bias networks, power distribution,
control interfaces and test points.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with
VNA, spectrum/signal analyzer, RF signal generator, power meter and
oscilloscope. OrCAD Capture schematic development and RF PCB layout review
experience.
- Strong understanding of RF
measurement techniques and RF component characterization.
- Experience in RF
subsystem/radar testing and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of ADS, MATLAB
or Python is desirable.
- Experience in radar, AESA, SAR, EW, satellite
or other high-performance RF systems.
- Experience with T/R module and phased-array RF
testing is preferred.
- Typical experience: 3-5 years in RF testing,
RF characterization or RF system verification.
Benefits
- Opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge space missions.
- Collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment.
- Exposure to advanced radar, embedded systems, and spacecraft technologies.
