RF Test Engineer
Summary
Designs and executes RF/microwave electronics tests to ensure product quality and reliability, using spectrum/network analyzers, signal generators, and LabView.
The RF Test Engineer is responsible for the testing of high-reliability RF and microwave electronics. This role ensures that the procedures in use guarantee quality, reliability, repeatability, and efficiency of all products in production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Testing of RF and microwave electronics products.
- Manufacturing and testing of; SSPA, BUC, LNA, Down Converters, Transceivers, etc.
- Work at various frequency bands; C-band, X-band, Ku-band, ka-band, etc.
- Assist in microwave product development from concept through design, test, and manufacturing.
- Use of lab tools related to testing of RF and electrical systems.
- Investigate, evaluate, and test parts for engineering development and production units.
- Use of manufacturing documentation, operations, and equipment.
- Create, modify, and review test documents and procedures.
- Perform circuit analysis and troubleshooting on parts and products.
- Improve quality in products and processes.
- Use and develop LabView software.
- Work alongside and communicate often with various engineers and managers at all levels of the company.
- Operate RF test equipment including:
* Spectrum Analyzer
* Network Analyzer (VNA)
* Signal Generator
* Power Meter
* Oscilloscope
- Set up test benches and ensure proper calibration of equipment.
- Follow safety and ESD handling procedures.
- Support production line testing and troubleshooting of failed units.
- Identify and report basic faults or anomalies in RF modules or PCB assemblies.
- Assist in re-testing after rework or repair activities.
- Maintain proper labeling and tracking of tested units.
- Record test results accurately in test logs or MES systems.
- Report deviations or failures through defined escalation channels and quality reporting systems.
- Maintain test records and ensure traceability of tested products.
- Support routine calibration and maintenance of RF test equipment.
- Ensure test setups are clean, organized, and functioning correctly.
- Report equipment issues promptly.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant technical field.
- Minimum of 3 years of direct experience.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing tools, equipment, and processes involved in producing RF electronics.
- Strong aptitude in the manufacture and testing of; SSPA, BUC, LNA, Down Converters, Transceivers, etc.
- Knowledge and understanding of ISO9001 and AS9100 controls and regulations.
- Excellent knowledge and use of lab tools related to testing of RF and electrical systems.
- Proficient with the use of lab equipment, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters, etc.
- User of LabView software or equivalent.
- Knowledge of database management systems; Omnify or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office software.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
